There has been an interesting update along the release of 2017 Mercedes Benz SL. Originally debuted in the 50s, the 300SL has become a legendary classic ride with the elegant roadster design. It had become such a legend that it became a long lasting icon of fashion and style. Later on, in the 1989, the R129 was released with the hope to repeat the similar success of the 300SL. The plan went well until the newer version was launched in 2013. Somehow, it went wrong because of the awkward design and the break of such an artistic design.
And now, the new 2017 Mercedes Benz SL is designed with a refreshed style and design, along with some of the mechanical upgrade. The main reason of such a design, really, is to clean up the reputation of SL’s line that was tarnished in 2013. And if you take a look at the front side design, you will see that Mercy has done a pretty good job now. With the reshaped headlights, simpler and yet cleaner surface, and also a new grille based on the 300SL design, the new SL looks elegant without compromising classic and masculine stance. The same grille design will be used on the future designs of the AMG models from Mercy.
2017 Mercedes Benz SL Engine
So, what can you expect from the new line of SL, anyway? This model is now called SL450 (but previously known as the SL400) is now running on V6 twin turbocharged engine that is able to deliver 362 hp of power. When it is paired with the new automatic nine speed transmission, it is able to reach 60 mph within 4.9 seconds – which is not a bad at all. The higher level, the SL550, is running on the V8 twin turbocharged engine with 4.7 liter capacity is able to deliver 449 hp of power. When it is paired with the automatic nine speed transmission, it is creating a speedier effect. As you can see, the 2017 Mercedes Benz SL is all powerful and fast with a touch of style and elegance.
2017 Mercedes Benz SL Design
Despite the changes happening to the SL, there hasn’t been much change happening to the ride anymore. Somehow, Mercy still keeps the oversized taillights with unchanged rear ends. But you can be sure that this line is definitely attractive and stylish, with the roadster design. The retractable rood can be easily opened and closed with the speed of 25 mph – so it is pretty fast. With the right curves and shapes, the overall design of this roadster is pretty impressive – and Mercy has gotten the style right.
2017 Mercedes Benz SL Price and Release Date
According to Mercy, the price for the base SL will be set at around $86,000 and the SL550 can reach around $110,000. If you are thinking about the AMG model, which is the SL63, the price is around $152,000 and the SL65 will be sold at around $220,000. It is highly likely that 2017 Mercedes Benz SL will be available at the end of 2016 or the early of 2017.
